The attack occurred in the evening near Erasmus Bridge. The assailant, armed with two long knives, killed one person and injured two others.

De Telegraaf reports that the victim was a young man who was stabbed while walking under the bridge. Other Dutch media suggest that the number of victims could have been higher if not for the heroic actions of a witness who managed to subdue the knifeman.

"Allahu Akbar"

In an interview with noc.nl, witnesses mentioned that during the attack, the man was shouting "Allahu Akbar". Reports indicate that the attacker is also seriously injured.

The assailant was subdued by a coach who happened to be conducting classes near Erasmus Bridge, where the incident unfolded.

He initially thought it was just a typical fight, "but when he started running in that direction, he realised it was something more serious."

- It was a man with two long knives. At one point, he stabbed another young man, and when I started shouting, he turned around - the coach recounted.

He explained that he struck the attacker with two sticks, and then they struggled. Eventually, he managed to wrench the knives away and discard them.

The circumstances of the attack, as well as the identities of the victim, the injured, and the perpetrator, are not yet known. The police have also not confirmed the motive for the assault.
