Almost 26 hours after the shocking events at the festival celebrating the 650th anniversary of the city of Solingen in western Germany, which resulted in the deaths of three people and left eight others injured, including several seriously, the perpetrator turned himself in to the police. "I am the one you are looking for," said the 26-year-old Syrian. The crime was revenge for the fate of Muslims in Palestine and other parts of the world.
"I am the one you are looking for," said the man, standing in the pouring rain, soaked and stained with blood. Shortly after 4 am GMT, the 26-year-old Syrian approached the police officers in Solingen and confessed that he was the one killing at the city festival.
The Syrian killed in revenge for Muslims
The German "Bild" reveals the background of the arrest of the suspect in the bloody attack in Solingen. It is 26-year-old Syrian Issa al H., who came to Germany at the end of December 2022 and applied for asylum in Bielefeld. He was granted a residence permit. "So far, he was not known to the security authorities as an Islamic extremist," writes "Bild".
Three people were killed, and eight were injured, including five seriously, in the knife attack by an assailant who attacked festival participants on Friday evening in Solingen, Germany. The event was organized to celebrate the city's 650th anniversary, the German police said in a statement on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, the authorities reported the detention of a 15-year-old. He was supposed to talk with the perpetrator about the attack.
On Saturday evening, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. "The attacker of yesterday's Christian gathering in the city of Solingen in Germany was a soldier of the Islamic State". According to the statement, it was revenge for Muslims in Palestine and other parts of the world.
A few hours before the suspect reported himself to the police, officers raided a refugee centre in Solingen and detained a 36-year-old man. "It was not the one we were looking for," said North Rhine-Westphalia's Interior Minister, Herbert Reul. Shortly before midnight, he stated that the one they had been searching for all day was now in custody.
