The attacker, who fatally stabbed three people in Germany, remains at large. Eight individuals are currently fighting for their lives in hospital. The first details about the perpetrator have emerged.

German police have identified characteristics of the knifeman wanted in connection with the Solingen attack. The man is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old and approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He is likely of Southern origin and has an athletic build. A distinctive feature is his beard. He was dressed in black and wore a cap.

The police stated that his identity and motives are unknown. Earlier, it was reported that the attack is being treated as a terrorist act. "Both the victims and witnesses are currently being interviewed. The police are searching for the perpetrator, and numerous forces have been deployed," it was reported. According to the police, the attacker intentionally aimed at the victims' throats.

The search operation involves heavily armed SEK units using approximately 40 special vehicles from across North Rhine-Westphalia. The police have blocked the city's main roads and exits, and residents have been instructed to stay indoors and avoid the centre.
