The United States will announce a new package of sanctions against Iran in the coming days, according to the National Security Advisor of the USA, Jake Sullivan, on Tuesday. These sanctions will target economic entities cooperating with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Defence.
The USA plans to impose additional sanctions on Iran soon to restrict the Iranian missile and drone production programme. The Americans expect their allies to join them in this effort, Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the USA, stated in a special announcement.
The sanctions will affect economic entities collaborating with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Defence.
The announcement highlighted that following the Iranian air attack on Israel from late Saturday to early Sunday, President Joe Biden, alongside foreign partners and leaders from both political parties in Congress, is preparing "a comprehensive response."
Iranian retaliation
In response to the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria's capital, Damascus, by Israeli aviation, which resulted in the death of three high-ranking Revolutionary Guard officers, Iran launched 36 cruise missiles, 110 ballistic missiles, and approximately 185 drones towards Israel on April 13th.
Israeli sources report that 99 percent of these were intercepted and did not reach their intended targets.
