The presidency in the United States officially begins on 20 January following the presidential elections, which take place in November. On this day, the president-elect takes the presidential oath during the inauguration ceremony, marking the formal assumption of office.
The president's term lasts four years and can be extended by another term if the president is re-elected. The two-term limit was introduced by the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1951. In the history of the United States, the presidential inauguration is one of the most symbolic and traditional events that underscores the continuity of democratic processes in the country.
