These attacks occurred at night and were carried out using dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles. Two power substations and an oil storage facility were set ablaze.

In the Belgorod region, a man lost his life as a result of the attack. Two people were injured, and several residential houses were damaged—this information was shared on Telegram by the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov. He also added that within the last 24 hours, four people had been killed and 20 injured due to various Ukrainian attacks.

In the Rostov region, which also borders Ukraine, a fire broke out at a power substation after Ukrainian drones attacked it. The blaze has already been extinguished, the region's governor, Vasily Golubev, informed Telegram.

Actions of Russian air defence

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, air defence systems destroyed 38 Ukrainian drones that attacked several Russian regions.

A series of explosions were recorded in the town of Kalach on the Don in the Volgograd region in southern Russia. This information was provided by the Baza channel on Telegram, which has sources in the Russian security forces.

The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, stated on Telegram that a power substation and an oil storage facility caught fire from falling drone debris, which was shot down by Russian air defence systems. The fire at the substation was quickly extinguished, but firefighters are still battling the blaze at the oil storage facility. Bocharov emphasised that there is "no threat to residential buildings".

A massive Ukrainian drone attack was also reportedly repelled in the Astrakhan region. According to authorities, no one was injured there. Several Ukrainian drones were also destroyed over the Voronezh and Kursk regions.

Response to the Russian attack

Experts point out that Russian officials often do not disclose the full extent of the damage caused by Ukrainian attacks. Ukrainian authorities have not yet reported on the night attacks on Russia.

Ukrainian drone attacks followed Monday's missile attacks carried out by Russian forces, which took place in Kyiv, among other locations. In the capital of Ukraine, at least 27 people were killed, and the largest children's hospital in Ukraine, Okhmatdyt, was severely damaged. Overall, around 40 people were killed across the country.
