The ideal solution for a quick, homemade meal is a stew in the form of a peasant pot. It's one of those dishes that doesn't require much effort yet is full of flavour and aroma. Additionally, preparing the stew in one pot saves time when cleaning up, making it an ideal dinner solution for busy people.

Why is the Peasant Pot such a hit?

First, it is incredibly easy to prepare. You put all the ingredients into one pot and simmer them under a cover. Second, it is extremely filling. Combining potatoes, meat, and vegetables gives the body plenty of energy. Third, it is very versatile. You can modify it by adding cabbage, mushrooms, or beans.


A classic recipe for peasant pot

Ingredients:

                        
  • 280 g bacon (raw or smoked),
  • 280-400 g sausage (e.g. Silesian, dry-cured, Zywiec),
  • 450 g potatoes,
  • 2-3 carrots,
  • 1 large onion,
  • 1 bell pepper (yellow or red),
  • 2 garlic cloves,
  • Small package of tomato paste,
  • 350 ml of water or vegetable broth,
  • Salt, pepper, hot and sweet paprika, marjoram,
  • Oil or olive oil.

Preparation:

  1. Golden base: Chop the onion and crush the garlic through a press. Sauté in oil until translucent. Add diced bacon and sausage, and fry until browned.
  2. Vegetable mix: Add diced bell pepper, potatoes, and sliced carrots to the meat. Pour in the broth and season with spices.
  3. Simmering: Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Add tomato paste and bring to the boil.
  4. Final touches: Season to taste with salt and pepper. Done!
