Tensions rise as Romania Denies Missile Breach Claim
Ukraine claims that a Russian missile violated Romanian airspace. Meanwhile, Bucharest denies these reports, asserting that NATO systems did not detect a breach.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that during a significant attack on Ukraine, a Russian missile flew through the airspace of Moldova and Romania. Sybiha emphasized that this incident demonstrates that the threat from Russia is not limited to Ukraine.
The Romanian Ministry of National Defence declared that its air control systems, which are part of NATO's integrated system, did not detect a border breach.
However, the agency confirmed it received information from the Ukrainian side about a missile that supposedly entered Romanian airspace near the town of Darabani for about two minutes.
"According to the data from Romanian air surveillance systems and information provided by NATO countries enhancing surveillance in Romania's area of responsibility, there was no confirmation of Romanian airspace violation," noted the Romanian ministry's communication.
Massive attack on Ukraine
On Wednesday morning, an air raid alert was declared across the entire territory of Ukraine due to the threat from Russian attack drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on social media that Russia used over 70 missiles of various types in the attack, targeting energy facilities.
