Trump declares state of emergency, troops sent to Mexico border
Donald Trump has announced the declaration of a state of emergency at the border with Mexico and the deployment of troops to the area. These actions are intended to immediately halt illegal border crossings.
- All illegal border crossings will result in detention, and we will begin the process of deporting millions of illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin - Donald Trump stated in his inaugural speech.
Sworn in as the 47th President of the USA, Trump announced plans to implement a state of emergency on the southern border with Mexico.
This decision aims to immediately halt illegal border crossings and commence the process of sending foreign criminals back to their home countries.
"Catch and release"
Trump also announced his intention to reinstate the policy of having immigrants remain in Mexico and to end the practice known as "catch and release." Additionally, the president plans to deploy troops to the border to counteract illegal immigration, which he described as a "disastrous invasion."
As part of his strategy to combat crime, Trump intends to designate drug cartels as terrorist organisations. He will also invoke a 1798 law to enable federal and state law enforcement agencies to effectively dismantle foreign gangs and criminal networks.
