The club season has officially ended, allowing some players to go on holiday. Yves Bissouma, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, took advantage of this break and travelled to Cannes, France. However, his stay did not go as planned. According to foreign media reports, he was attacked and robbed by bandits.

From 2018 to 2022, Yves Bissouma represented Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Malian footballer, who is of Ivorian descent, earned a transfer to a better club with his impressive performances. Consequently, after the 2021/2022 season, he joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he continues to play in the English Premier League.

After the end of the 2023/2024 season, Bissouma decided to go on a well-deserved holiday and spend it in Cannes, France. Now, however, he has every reason to regret choosing this city.

As reported by goal.com, the midfielder was attacked by two hooded men. The incident occurred early on Sunday, 2 June, when he was getting out of a car on the famous Promenade de la Croisette in Cannes. The bandits sprayed Bissouma's face with pepper spray, robbed him, and then fled.

The assailants are reported to have taken a timepiece worth an astonishing 260 thousand pounds. The athlete's lawyer confirmed the incident and added that the French police are investigating.

The player nearly managed to take shelter in a nearby hotel, but it was closed due to the early hour. A few hours after the incident, Bissouma and his partner left France and returned to London.

"We are aware of the incident involving Yves Bissouma in Cannes. Our primary concern is for Yves and his family, and we will continue to monitor their well-being closely," reads a statement from his club.
