On 5 October 2024, Kate Winslet celebrated her 49th birthday. The actress gained immense popularity by playing Rose in the iconic film "Titanic." The Hollywood star has had many remarkable roles and collaborations with some of the most prominent directors. However, she wouldn't choose to revisit every collaboration today.

Kate Winslet is a talented actress who gained massive popularity with her role in "Titanic." The star has many other equally unforgettable roles to her credit. In recent years, she has undoubtedly captivated audiences by appearing in the series "Mare of Easttown," where she portrayed a detective investigating a murder case while struggling with her inner demons. Winslet also starred in a production by Roman Polanski, which she later openly regretted.

On 5 October 2024, Winslet turned 49 years old. Kate is a happy wife and mother, although before finding peace with her current husband, she experienced several rather turbulent relationships.

"I have to take responsibility"

Kate Winslet previously collaborated with Roman Polanski (the film "Carnage" from 2011) and Woody Allen (the production "Wonder Wheel" from 2017). The star admitted that she is not proud of these collaborations, considering the accusations both directors faced.

- What was I doing working with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski? It's unbelievable to me now how those men were held in such high regard, so widely in the film industry and for as long as they were. It's disgraceful - she said in Vanity Fair.

As she added, time cannot be reversed, but she still regrets deciding to work with men about whom disturbing rumours had circulated for years.

- I have to take responsibility for the fact that I worked with them both. I can’t turn back the clock. I’m grappling with those regrets but what do we have if we aren’t able to just be truthful about all of it?- she emphasised in the same interview.

The third time's the charm?

Kate Winslet's first husband was Jim Threapleton, whom she married in 1998. The couple had a daughter. Unfortunately, the marriage did not stand the test of time - in 2001, the actors announced their divorce. Later, Winslet became involved with director Sam Mendes. The couple married in 2003 - in December, the newlyweds welcomed their son Joe into the world. However, this relationship also did not last.

The first rumours of Winslet and Mendes's split emerged in 2010. The actress was deeply affected by what the tabloids wrote. Winslet was blamed for the breakup, accused of growing bored with her husband. The actress emphasised that the way the media wrote about their divorce was really brutal.

After the divorce, Winslet was linked to model Louis Dowler. This relationship lasted a few months. Then Edward Abel Smith appeared in Kate's life. In 2012, the couple got married. They also had a son - Bear, who was born a year after his parents got married. Winslet and Smith are still together today.
