Love conquers all: Macrons' journey from scandal to power
Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron married in 2007. The politician's marriage to Brigitte, who is 25 years older, came after she divorced her husband. On the occasion of the French President's 47th birthday, we delve into the story of their love.
Emmanuel Macron was born on 21 December 1977. Their relationship was controversial from the outset. It seemed the couple had to face the world together. Even Brigitte Macron's children were initially sceptical about her partner. However, they demonstrated that true love can overcome all obstacles.
Their relationship is a ready-made film script
Brigitte was a French teacher, and Emmanuel was her student. Moreover, she already had a husband and children. Society seemed reticent to accept this relationship.
- A separation is painful, but when there is something particular, it’s even more painful. I learned a lot about human nature. I know that, at times like these, you have to focus on what’s essential and move forward regardless of criticism. The attacks, the backbiting, the judgments. It wasn’t yet the age of social networking, but we were in a small provincial town. People knew everything - emphasized Tiphaine Auzière, the stepdaughter of the President of France, in an interview quoted by "The Telegraph".
The couple decided to get married in 2007. In less than a decade, Emmanuel Macron was elected President of France, making his wife the First Lady with whom he represents the country on the international stage.
He dealt with rumours
In 2021, two French women posted a video on YouTube claiming that Brigitte Macron was born as a boy named Jean-Michel Trogneux. There is indeed such a man, and he is the First Lady's brother. In June 2023, the women were ordered to pay damages for spreading false information. Unfortunately, this did not silence the rumours.
During a speech for International Women's Day on 8 March 2024, Emmanuel Macron decided to address these speculations.
- The worst thing is false information. People eventually believe them and disturb you, even in your private life - Emmanuel Macron is quoted saying in "The Pink News".
