Where do the boundaries of fun and risk for views end, and where does flirting with death begin? It's difficult to say. Some internet creators engage in extremely dangerous actions just to be in the spotlight momentarily. Some enter runways with bears, others bury themselves in coffins. The form of gaining temporary popularity doesn't matter - the only important elements are the views, partnerships, and contracts that come with them.
Did IShowSpeed almost lose his life?
While in New Zealand, IShowSpeed visited the Velocity Valley amusement park. One of the facility's attractions is a 43-metre tower, from which volunteers jump without ropes and harnesses. The streamer also decided to jump, documenting his feat on video as usual. Wearing a helmet, Speed growled at the camera and then fell onto the net located almost 50 metres below.
The next part of the video shows the influencer lying on the net. People around him are acting like paramedics. Speed is lying on his side, and his head is being stabilised by a woman assisting him. After the helmet was removed, the streamer clutched his head, and a grimace of pain appeared on his face. Everything looked very serious and alarming. It's no wonder that fans of IShowSpeed had many questions.
The director of Velocity Valley presents his version of events
In a press release, Simon Short, the Managing Director of Velocity Valley, stated that IShowSpeed was unharmed. Short emphasised that the influencer was "thrilled" by the attraction. The director claims that after the dramatic conclusion of the live broadcast, Speed got up from the net as if nothing had happened, then added that the attraction was "awesome." Short added that Speed's cameraman whispered to him shortly after the jump, "Don't worry, he's going to pretend he's dead in a moment." The staff attending to Speed didn't know his intentions but professionally managed the situation. - As shown in the recording, Speed whispered 'green apple,' which was the codeword for the cameraman to end the broadcast, leaving millions of fans in uncertainty - said Short.
