Natural yoghurt is a rich source of protein, essential for the health of our muscles, bones, and skin, as well as the production of enzymes and hormones. However, the real strength of yoghurt lies in its probiotics, the "good" bacteria that maintain digestive health, improve digestion and help combat certain infections.

Yoghurt is also a valuable source of calcium, which is crucial for the health of our bones and teeth. It also contains B vitamins, such as B2 (riboflavin) and B12, which are necessary for eye health, skin, the nervous system, and the production of red blood cells. Other vital components include potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and is essential for proper heart function, and magnesium, which supports bone health, heart health, and energy production.

Choosing yoghurts without added sugar is important, as some flavoured versions can contain significant amounts. Check the label to choose the healthiest option.

Why does yoghurt pair perfectly with cinnamon and cardamom?

Yoghurt with cinnamon and cardamom is a delicious snack that can be prepared quickly. Both spices have bioactive ingredients that can impact weight control and overall metabolism.

Cinnamon is known for stabilising blood sugar levels, which prevents fat accumulation and weight gain. Studies show that consuming 1-6 metric teaspoons of cinnamon daily for several weeks can lower blood pressure, sugar, and lipid levels.

On the other hand, Cardamom has thermogenic properties, meaning it increases calorie burning by raising body temperature. Some studies suggest that cardamom may promote feelings of fullness, helping to control appetite and prevent excessive calorie consumption.

A 2021 research review suggests that cardamom may positively affect blood sugar levels, lower inflammation markers, and reduce liver fat.

It’s also worth mentioning that both cinnamon and cardamom contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds, extending their health benefits beyond weight control.
