She greeted passengers boarding the plane, and moments later, she died before their eyes. The 57-year-old flight attendant from Italy, Gabriella Cario, passed away on the aircraft before it had a chance to take off.

It all occurred on board an ITA Airways aircraft at Reggio Calabria Airport in Calabria. The flight attendant had mentioned feeling unwell earlier, prior to boarding the plane.

However, she declined medical intervention, wanting to finish her shift as swiftly as possible and return home to her waiting family.

According to Fakt, her condition drastically deteriorated just after boarding the plane. Gabriella suddenly collapsed to the ground and moments later, she was no longer alive.

Everything unfolded before the eyes of bewildered and helpless passengers and crew members.

Emergency services were immediately called, and passengers were asked to leave the plane. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the flight was delayed by several hours.

This is so tragic!! The ITA crew member and mother of three children passed away shortly after boarding the plane - as read on social media.

And the airline employees added: We are not machines. Dear colleagues, please take your health seriously.

The cause of the 57-year-old's death remains unknown. The airline provided only vague information, reporting a sudden illness without going into details. Condolences were also extended to the family by the authorities of the town where she resided.

Her loved ones remember her as a wise and warm woman who was always smiling.
