Turkstream pipeline unharmed amid alleged attack accusations
Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced that the TurkStream pipeline infrastructure had been attacked, but the gas flow remained uninterrupted, according to Turkish broadcaster TRT. Russia had earlier accused Ukraine of the attack, although Kyiv has not commented on these allegations.
"There was no interruption in gas flow after the attack. The pipeline continues to deliver gas at the same capacity," the minister stated.
Earlier, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed that on 11 January, Ukraine attempted to attack a compressor station in the Krasnodar region with drones. This station is crucial for gas supplies via the TurkStream pipeline.
It was noted that all attacking drones were shot down, resulting in no casualties or damage.
On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, accused the USA of attempting to damage the TurkStream pipeline via Kyiv (formerly Turkish Stream). This pipeline transports gas from Russia across the Black Sea to the European part of Turkey and beyond to the EU.
The Ukrainian side has not commented on the allegations concerning the attack.
