In the small village of Loen, in the heart of the Nordfjord region, known for its impressive landscapes in the northwestern part of Norway, an intriguing attraction has emerged for the brave. Photos of the hanging stairs have caused a stir on social media.

An attraction for thrill seekers

"Stigull" is an extreme attraction in the Hoven mountains. The 40-metre-long hanging ladder is located approximately 800 metres above the Norwegian fjord. The stairs, slanted at a 45-degree angle, are part of an extensive Via Ferrata climbing route.

In photos taken from the Gjølmunne suspension bridge, daredevils walking on this ladder appear floating in the air. "Wow. What a view", "Oh God, I can already feel tingling in my legs" - write internet users under the photos shared on social media.

A unique experience

- If you dare to look around you can take in the spectacular fiord landscape with the glittering fiord and the majestic peaks, with the massive cliff face and narrow gorge right beside you - admitted Helge, who dared to conquer the sky-high route, in an interview with CNN.

Climbing the ladder itself is not difficult, but the exposure is enormous. Additionally, the sense of accomplishment is great, adds Helge.

There are also plenty of other tourist attractions around the village of Loen. These include less extreme mountain trails and kayaking trips.
