This is one of the traditional dishes of our cuisine. Ground meat cutlets appear on our tables both on a daily basis and during family gatherings or holidays. They are usually served with potatoes with dill and a favourite salad. Beetroot or young cabbage are also excellent choices. They taste best right after being taken off the pan.
Add to cutlets instead of breadcrumbs
Ground meat cutlets are very easy to prepare. Everyone likes them, and they almost always turn out well. To make them, you need ground meat (usually pork and beef), an egg, an onion, your favourite spice mix, and breadcrumbs. Many people add a kaiser roll previously soaked in water or milk.
Nuts are also an appetising alternative to breadcrumbs. They need to be ground or finely chopped beforehand. Nuts add a unique flavour, crunch, and enrich the dish with healthy fats.
Tested substitutes
Breadcrumbs can also be replaced with oat flakes, a valuable source of fibre. They should be soaked in hot water for several minutes. Ground almonds or flaxseed can also work as substitutes.
Bran is a great choice for people who care about a healthy diet. It improves bowel peristalsis and prevents constipation. Breadcrumbs can also be substituted with millet—it binds the meat mixture well. Another suggestion is ground cornflakes, which will add crunch to the cutlets.
