Russian military official detained for high treason and spying
An employee of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has been detained on charges of high treason, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Tuesday. The suspect is alleged to have been passing information to the Ukrainian army.

The FSB press service for the Rostov region reported that an employee of the Southern Military District was detained on charges of high treason and passing information to employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
"It was established that in January, a resident of Rostov-on-Don established and maintained contact with a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine via the Signal communicator. Acting on the orders of the Ukrainian side in 2023, this person began service in one of the military units of the Southern Military District, where they collected various types of information about arsenals, bases, and warehouses that are part of the district" the statement read.
The FSB reported that Russian services confiscated communication devices used by the suspect to contact the Ukrainian representative. A criminal case was initiated under Article 275 of the Russian criminal code (high treason).
