The Oscar winner is set to portray He-Man's main adversary in the forthcoming film adaptation of the iconic animated series, joining an illustrious cast.

The Oscar-winning actor, renowned for his performances in "House of Gucci" and "Dallas Buyers Club," will take on the role of He-Man/Prince Adam's arch-nemesis, while Nicholas Galitzine takes on the role of He-Man. Director Travis Knight, celebrated for "Bumblebee," has assembled a remarkable cast, featuring Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops. Jared Leto to play Skeletor in "Masters of the Universe"
Not everyone is aware that the He-Man franchise began in 1982 with Mattel's action figures, accompanied by mini-comics. The animated series "He-Man, the Masters of the Universe" only started broadcasting a year later. This fantasy universe is expected to feature numerous characters, including Skeletor, who Leto will portray with extensive use of CGI and motion capture. This method will differ from the first live-action adaptation in 1987, in which Frank Langella played Skeletor with traditional makeup.
Jared Leto enjoys playing villains
The role of Skeletor adds to Jared Leto's repertoire of stylised villains. He began this chapter of his career with the portrayal of the Joker in "Suicide Squad" (2016), followed by the role of a CEO in "Blade Runner 2049" (2017), and most recently as the anti-hero Morbius in 2022. The actor is also set to assume the lead role in Disney's "Tron: Ares," co-starring Evan Peters and Greta Lee.
"Masters of the Universe" is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films. The film's premiere is slated for 5 June 2026 at 00:00 GMT. Although the full details of the plot and production remain undisclosed, fans can look forward to an exhilarating and visually captivating rendition of the iconic characters and the full power of Castle Grayskull.
