Everton announced the death of another of its former players. Frank D'Arcy, a team member during the 1969/70 season when the English club won the country's championship, passed away at 77.

The past weekend was truly tragic for both Everton and its supporters. The club announced the deaths of two former players practically day by day.

On Saturday (15 June), social media was flooded with news of Kevin Campbell’s death. He was associated with both Arsenal and Everton for most of his career. The 54-year-old passed away due to an illness for which he had been hospitalized at the beginning of June while working as a television pundit.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, the Toffees confirmed the news of 77-year-old Frank D'Arcy's death, who died on Saturday. He was a former defender for Everton, having played for the club from 1965 to 1971.

D'Arcy was part of the team that triumphed in the top division in England in the 1969/70 season. However, he only played in five matches during that time and didn’t receive a medal. A recent change in the rules meant that he finally received one last year.

"Everyone at Everton Football Club is deeply saddened by the death of our title-winning defender, Frank D'Arcy, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 77," wrote Everton on social media.

After ending his football career, D'Arcy remained a devoted fan of the Toffees throughout his life and could still be seen at the stadium until recent years. At this moment, the cause of death of the former star of the English club is unknown.
