Ukrainian forces capture North Korean soldiers in Russia
Drone operators from the Tactical Group of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) captured the moment a North Korean soldier was seized during a special operation in the Kursk region of Russia.
The Ukrainian Special Forces released footage of the capture of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia. These images were shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Our soldiers have captured North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region. Two soldiers, though wounded, survived and were transported to Kyiv, where they are now communicating with the Security Service of Ukraine," wrote Zelensky on the X platform.
The head of state expressed his gratitude to the soldiers of Tactical Group No. 84 of the Special Operations Forces and the airborne troops for capturing the Koreans. He assured that they received medical care, the same as all other prisoners of war.
"I have instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to grant journalists access to these prisoners. The world needs to know the truth about what is happening," emphasised Zelensky.
Previously, Kyiv, the Pentagon, and South Korean intelligence reported numerous losses among North Korean troops, but until now there had been no convincing visual evidence.
The statement by the President of Ukraine said that the Korean prisoners had been transported to Kyiv, do not speak Russian or English, and thus communication with them is conducted via Korean language translators "in cooperation with South Korean intelligence."
It was reported that one of the prisoners possessed a military document of the Russian model issued in the name of another person registered in the Republic of Tuva, while the other had no documents.
