When you wake up in the morning craving something sweet and filling, nothing satisfies that desire better than a plate of pancakes. They are versatile, easy to prepare, and delicious, and you can serve them with a variety of toppings. However, if you want to simplify the process further and minimise washing up, it's worth knowing a recipe that requires just two key ingredients.

How to make pancakes with 2 ingredients

  • 2 bananas,
  • 1 egg,
  • a small piece of butter or oil for frying

Preparation

  1. Peel two bananas and mash them with a fork while still in their peel.
  2. Transfer the mashed bananas to a bowl and continue mashing them with a fork.
  3. In a separate bowl, separate the egg white from the yolk, and add the yolk to the bananas.
  4. Mix thoroughly with a fork until the ingredients are combined.
  5. Beat the egg white until stiff and gently fold it into the banana-egg mixture.
  6. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a small piece of butter or oil.
  7. When the butter has melted, place three tablespoons of the pancake mixture onto the pan. Ensure the mixture is spread out and not sticking together.
  8. Fry until you notice characteristic bubbles on the pancakes, which takes a few minutes.
  9. Flip the pancakes over and fry for the same length of time.
  10. After frying, decorate the 2-ingredient banana pancakes as you please. You can use chocolate spread, raspberries, strawberries, Greek yoghurt, honey, or other fruits.

Ripe bananas - don't throw them away, use them

Ripe bananas are an excellent ingredient for many dishes, especially when they are too soft to eat raw. They add natural sweetness and moisture to batter, allowing you to reduce the amount of sugar required. Ripe bananas are also perfect for bakes such as chocolate banana bread, a popular dessert that is sure to impress guests at any party.

Another idea for using ripe bananas is making smoothies. Simply blend them with natural yoghurt and other ingredients such as mint or chocolate. You can also freeze bananas and blend them with milk to create delicious banana ice cream.
