"The New York Times" reports that the Russia-born Epshteyn has already presented his proposal to Trump.

Epshteyn, who has no experience in foreign policy, purportedly argued that he has relatives in both Russia and Ukraine. "NYT" reports that the lawyer's idea surprised many in Trump's circle, including Elon Musk. The President-elect, however, reportedly listened with interest.

"The New York Times" highlights that Epshteyn is currently under investigation in Arizona concerning his actions related to attempting to overturn the 2020 election. Despite this, Trump has not dismissed his proposal.
