Israeli incursion into Lebanon deepens regional tensions
Disturbing information has emerged from the Middle East. According to Lebanese state media, on Saturday, the Israeli army advanced approximately three miles into the country. This marks the deepest incursion since early October, when Israeli soldiers first crossed the border into Lebanon after the latest escalation in the conflict with Hezbollah.

The Lebanese news agency, NNA, reported that Israeli troops clashed with Hezbollah fighters. During the fighting, they captured a strategic hill in the town of Chamaa, after which they withdrew to their original positions. According to Lebanon's health ministry, at least six people were killed, including three children. Eleven individuals were injured.
The ground operation is being conducted in conjunction with air raids. For nearly a week, Israel has been shelling the southern outskirts of Beirut. Earlier airstrikes also targeted central and eastern parts of Lebanon. So far, no information about casualties has been reported from these areas.
On Saturday morning, Israeli rockets also fell near archaeological sites around the city of Tyre, where Roman ruins are under study. This site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Two doctors tragically lost their lives there.
The government in Tel Aviv consistently asserts that attacks on targets in Lebanon are part of the fight against Hezbollah terrorists. Among the targeted sites were an arms depot and a command centre for the organisation.
Exchanges of fire between Israel and Lebanon
In retaliation for the recent attacks, on Saturday evening, Hezbollah targeted a synagogue in Haifa, northern Israel. There were no fatalities. However, as a result of the shelling, two individuals were injured.
