The jurors reached a consensus in the criminal case against Donald Trump in New York. The verdict has been announced: the former president of the USA has been found guilty of concealing a payment for the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels. Trump is the first US president to be convicted in a criminal case. The sentence is to be announced on July 11.

The ongoing trial in the state court in Manhattan concerned $130,000 paid by Trump to porn actress Stormy Daniels for her silence about their alleged intimate relations before the 2016 presidential election.

The prosecution accused Trump of illegally hiding these expenses as payment for legal services to his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, who facilitated the transaction. The prosecution alleged that the then-Republican candidate aimed to influence the election this way illegally.

Trump was charged with a total of 34 counts of falsifying business records. He faces up to one year in prison, but most commentators expect that Trump will avoid imprisonment.

The sentence is to be announced on July 11, just a few days before the planned decision by Republicans on the party's candidate for the presidential election in the USA.

A decision on Trump. The former president reacts

CNN writes about Donald Trump's reaction. The former president called the trial against him "disgraceful." He also stated that the proceedings were "rigged."

The verdict of the New York court is unprecedented. Trump became the first president in US history to be convicted in a criminal case.
