Joe Biden and Donald Trump have set the terms for the first televised debate, which will take place on June 27. According to CNN, the debate organizer, the discussion will last ninety minutes, there will be no audience, and speaking time will be limited.

The debate between the two main candidates in the upcoming US presidential elections will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, without an audience. CNN previously reported that these conditions are preferred by Biden.

"To ensure a civilized discussion"

The channel announced on Saturday that the campaign teams of both candidates agreed to a number of other conditions, such as using identical podiums and turning off microphones.

"Microphones will be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak," CNN specified, adding that presenters Jake Tapper and Dana Bash "will use all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion."

90-minute clash

According to the channel's information, the 90-minute debate will be interrupted by two commercial breaks. During these breaks, campaign teams cannot contact the candidates.

Candidates cannot use pre-prepared notes but will be provided with a pen, a sheet of paper, and a bottle of water on-site.

One more debate

Joe Biden, the current president of the Democratic Party, and his Republican Party predecessor, Donald Trump, have agreed to hold two debates before the November elections.

ABC will organize the second debate, which will be held on September 10. The first debate will be held on June 27 at 2:00 AM GMT.
