Stabbing spree erupts during Euro 2024 match in German town
The drama unfolded during the European Championships in Germany when an unknown man invaded the property of a family watching the Euro 2024 match and stabbed three people. It turns out that the perpetrator had killed another person just moments earlier. The knifeman also attacked police officers, who responded by shooting the perpetrator.
Police were called to a single-family house on Genossenschaftsweg Street in Wolmirstedt (Saxony-Anhalt) on Friday evening around 8:30 PM GMT. The family had invited guests to watch the European Championships together. Shortly after the match began, an unknown man with a knife appeared in the yard and suddenly stabbed three people.
According to the police, he was "of southern type." The local newspaper "Magdeburger Volksstimme" reported that he had previously threatened people with a knife in a neighbouring garden. Residents also called the police.
Police shot the attacker
It turns out that the attacker was running through garden plots with a weapon in hand. Just a few minutes before attacking the family, the man had attacked and killed another person with a knife in an apartment. After leaving the building, he probably entered the property on Genossenschaftsweg and randomly stabbed the fans.
A few minutes later, the police arrived at the scene. The killer approached them and then attacked the officers. The police used firearms against the attacker. The officers informed the newspaper "Bild" that "the perpetrator died in the hospital."
