France's secret overtures to Moscow: Lavrov's claim stirs controversy
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, claims that France proposed a dialogue with Russia about the war in Ukraine, circumventing Kyiv. Allegedly, they approached Moscow on multiple occasions.
Many pieces of information reported by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. These reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that France repeatedly approached Russia through undisclosed channels, proposing to initiate a dialogue regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war without including Ukraine. According to "Ukrainian Truth", Russia was prepared to consider Paris's proposals, even though France simultaneously supported sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
Lavrov: France's ambiguous stance
Lavrov mentioned that France, despite its dialogue proposals, is concurrently training Ukrainian soldiers on its territory and supports dispatching a European contingent to Ukraine. This "ambiguous stance," according to Lavrov, undermines the credibility of the French initiatives.
- Several times, through undisclosed channels, our French colleagues expressed: "Let's help, let's initiate a dialogue on the Ukrainian issue." Remarkably, this excludes Ukraine, thus breaking the principle frequently reiterated by the West, "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," - he stated.
Lavrov threatens
- Decision-making centres directly in Kyiv could be potential targets for Russian strikes, depending on the threats, - stated the Russian Foreign Minister. He concurrently argued that "Moscow never attacks civilian targets."
- We choose targets for destruction on Ukrainian territory solely based on threats towards the Russian Federation. These could be military objects, defence industry enterprises, and decision-making centres in Kyiv; however, striking civilian targets "is the method of the Nazis who settled in Kyiv with Western support," - he asserted. This is despite the daily evidence of Moscow destroying entire residential areas, hospitals, and schools in Ukraine.
