Do you remember that Sony smartphones are on the market? In the past, devices from the Xperia line were trendy. They were valued for the quality of photos and videos. The new Sony Xperia 1 VI model seems to meet buyers' expectations. The question, however, is whether the quality of the camera alone will convince enough customers to purchase this expensive flagship.

The new Sony smartphone with an exceptional camera

First, we got to know Sony, then Sony Ericsson, and now Xperia—smartphones of this Japanese brand have been introduced under different names. It should be mentioned that in recent years, the technology giant has not been performing its best in the mobile phone segment. Their products are carefully crafted and often have intriguing features.

Still, for various reasons, they do not attract as many customers as the latest models from Realme, Samsung, Xiaomi, or Apple. However, it is worth emphasizing that Sony flagships usually offer exceptional photographic cameras. This is no surprise, considering that Sony is a renowned brand in the photographic industry.

Sony Xperia 1 VI will be officially launched on May 15 at 9 a.m. GMT. We have already received information about an advanced photographic camera featured in this model. As more data becomes available, the new Xperia 1 VI looks increasingly attractive.

Impressive telephoto lens

It seems that Xperia 1 VI particularly focuses on one element: impressive zoom.

The telephoto lens in the Sony Xperia 1 VI model will be improved with a new optical zoom compared to its predecessor. It is likely to have a focal range of 85-170 mm. This means that the image can be enlarged 3.5 times and 7 times. This is an impressive result, considering that most flagship phones of the competition (such as Google Pixel 8 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra) offer a five-times zoom.

New camera app

The most important innovation for many users may be the new camera app. It has been designed to be easy and intuitive to use. With one app, we can control various photo and video shooting modes. So far, Sony has advertised various advanced solutions for professionals, including the ability to record films in cinema quality. However, average users often face difficulties using the phone's full capabilities.

The hardware of the leading and wide-angle cameras remains unchanged compared to the Sony Xperia 1 V. However, the Japanese company has improved the software, increasing the device's performance. Thus, we can expect even better-quality photos and videos.

The change from previous models also concerns the shape of the casing. Former Sony smartphones had a rather unusual, elongated shape. The screen had a 21:9 ratio, with relatively large frames above and below. The screen's proportions are expected to be 19.5:9, and the resolution might reach 4K. The device's performance will be at the highest level—the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor will be supported by 12 or 16 GB of RAM.

Will the Sony Xperia 1 VI be the best smartphone for taking pictures? We will find out over time, but photo quality test outcomes are one thing, and smartphone sales are entirely different. It's hard to predict whether the new flagship from Japan will be able to realistically threaten the dominance of brands such as Samsung, Apple, and Chinese manufacturers.
