"Data from space reconnaissance shows that on 3 August 2024, a fire strike destroyed a Su-34 fighter-bomber at the military airfield (…) Morozovsk in the Rostov region," HUR stated on Telegram.
Two similar aircraft at the same airfield were likely damaged by shrapnel, as evidenced by the craters near them. The aviation ammunition depot was destroyed, as indicated by the fire traces on the airfield, and four technical buildings and two hangars were also destroyed - as explained in the statement.
Ukrainian intelligence did not reveal what weapon was used in the Morozovsk attack. They emphasised that this Russian airbase is approximately 265 kilometres from the front line.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the attack on Morozovsk in the Rostov region on Saturday morning (Greenwich Time). In a statement issued at that time, they announced the hit of three ammunition warehouses, which stored, among other things, guided aerial bombs. The staff also reported that oil and fuel depots in the Russian regions of Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov were attacked.
