"For the entire day, Kharkiv has been under Russian terrorist strikes. The air raid in the Kharkiv region has been ongoing for more than 12 hours. Guided aerial bombs and missiles are targeting the ordinary buildings of Kharkiv, the ordinary civilian life of the city. A construction hypermarket has been burnt to the ground, and firefighting is still underway. There were strikes on the central park, on ordinary houses..." listed Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening social media post.
The President of Ukraine added that the exact number of dead is still unknown. Nearly 60 people were injured in just one day.
"I thank everyone in the world who supports Ukraine, and our Kharkiv now, and condemns Russian terror. It is important that we all stand together to ensure that Russian terror is overcome and that everyone responsible for these attacks receives a just response. Everyone who supports us with air defense systems, everyone who supplies Ukraine with weapons to defend against Russian terrorists, and everyone who stands with us in the world and has no lack of determination is a real lifesaver," added Zelensky.
Attack on a construction market in Kharkiv
The number of dead in the Saturday Russian attack on a construction hypermarket in Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, has risen to four. Over 40 people have been injured, authorities reported.
The attack on the hypermarket was conducted using guided aerial bombs.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in response to this attack that at the time of the bombing, around 200 people might have been in the hypermarket. He added that if the Ukrainian forces had sufficient air defence systems, such attacks would be impossible.
