Ukrainian media have published new photos showing the aftermath of the attack on the Russian military base Morozovsk. There was a warehouse – now there is no warehouse. The aircraft weapons turned into scrap and ash," the report stated. Ukrainian intelligence admitted to the attack on Monday.

Ukrainians attacked the Russian Morozovsk air base in the Rostov region overnight from Friday to Saturday.

Morozovsk base attacked

Satellite images confirmed that as a result of the Ukrainian forces' attack, a Su-34 combat aircraft and aviation weaponry depots were destroyed, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence (HUR) reported on Monday.

HUR informed Telegram that the space reconnaissance data indicated that on 3 August 2024, a Su-34 fighter bomber was destroyed at the military airfield 'Morozovsk' in the Rostov region due to a strike.

Two similar machines at the same airfield were probably damaged by shrapnel, indicated by blast craters nearby. The aviation weaponry depot was completely destroyed, as evidenced by fire marks at the airfield, and four technical buildings and two hangars were also destroyed, the statement explained.

Russian base turned into "scrap and ash"

On Tuesday, Ukrainian media published new photos from the explosion site. TSN station commented that there was a warehouse, but now there is no warehouse. The photo shows that the aircraft weapons turned into scrap and ash.

Ukrainian intelligence did not reveal the weapon used for the Morozovsk attack. They emphasised that this Russian airbase is 265 kilometres from the front line.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the attack on Morozovsk in the Rostov region on Saturday morning. In the statement issued at that time, it was reported that three ammunition warehouses were hit, where guided air bombs were stored, among other things. The General Staff also reported that oil and fuel depots in the Russian Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov regions were attacked.
