Ukraine seeks NATO aid to fight the aftermath of russian strikes

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has submitted a request for international assistance through NATO. Kyiv is seeking help to deal with the effects of Russian attacks on its civilian population.

The necessary equipment will be used by civil defence services to neutralise the effects of the attacks, according to the letter sent to NATO. The equipment will first be directed to regions most affected by the Russian offensive.

Kyiv has also posted a list of required items, including fire engines equipped with ladders measuring approximately 30 metres and 35 metres. The list also includes excavators, tractors, trailers for transporting lorries, as well as armoured medical vehicles and armoured vehicles for civilian evacuation.

As a result of a Russian drone attack, a large fire broke out at an industrial facility in Ternopil Oblast in western Ukraine, the military administration of the region reported early on Tuesday morning. Residents were asked not to leave their homes unnecessarily due to deteriorating air quality.

"During the nighttime attack, the enemy targeted an industrial facility. A fire broke out, and all services responsible for the operation of the facility were immediately dispatched to the scene," said Viktor Ustenko, Deputy Head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, at a press conference.

"Upon arriving at the scene, it was determined that the fire started as a result of a hit to one of the tanks storing fuel and lubricants, causing the fire. More than 20 vehicles and over 90 rescuers are involved in extinguishing the blaze. At 10:50 AM Greenwich Time, the fire was localised; it is still being extinguished," informed Viktor Masley, Head of the State Emergency Service in Ternopil Oblast, at the same press conference.
