Russian airstrikes on Lviv kill five, injure 38, cause widespread damage

During the night, air raid alarms were sounded throughout Ukraine. The most severe Russian attack occurred in Lviv. Five people died, and 38 were injured. Two schools and various buildings in the city centre were damaged. A large fire broke out near the main train station. Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih were also attacked.

Five people died, and 38 were injured in the Russian strike on Lviv, which took place during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday – reported Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and the head of the regional military administration Maksym Kozytskyi in communications on Telegram.

"Already five people killed. The fifth fatality is a nine-year-old girl. A black day for our region," admitted Kozytskyi.

Governor of the Lviv Region Maksym Kozytskyi stated in a Telegram communication that several children were among the injured – four sustained minor injuries and one moderate injuries. Residential buildings were hit. According to his information, Russian forces directed missiles and drones at Lviv.

One residential building near the main station went up in flames, and many buildings have shattered windows. Due to the attack, students from two educational institutions will not attend school. All emergency services are operational in the centre of Lviv.

Attack on Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih

As a result of the missile strike on Kryvyi Rih in southern Ukraine, five people were injured. A civilian infrastructure facility in the centre was damaged, as well as over 10 multi-storey residential buildings - reported the head of the city's defence council, Oleksandr Vilkul.

According to Ukrainian air forces, the Lviv region was attacked by two groups of cruise missiles. A MiG-31K also took off from the Savasleyka airport in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.

The authorities of the Kyiv region additionally reported night explosions in Kyiv.
