Liam Payne, a member of One Direction, passed away on 16th October 2024 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. His death was a shock to fans worldwide. Those close to the musician believe that an immediate call for an ambulance might have prevented the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing. The police are still trying to establish precisely what occurred before the incident.

Friend of Liam Payne accused of negligence

A friend of Payne, whose identity remains undisclosed in local Argentine reports, has been accused of negligence. This relates to the fact that he did not inform Liam’s family about his relapse into drug addiction, as reported by the Argentine newspaper "La Nacion".

The judge ruled that the friend breached his caregiving duties towards Payne and now faces a prison sentence ranging from two to six years.

Additionally, a hotel employee and a suspected drug dealer have been accused of supplying Payne with illegal substances. The identities of these individuals have also not been disclosed, but it is known that the hotel employee was dismissed from CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where Payne stayed before his death.

New findings in the investigation of Liam Payne's death

This week, TMZ reported that authorities conducted raids as part of the investigation, searching various locations related to the suspects. The police examined hotel lockers and video footage and secured various items, including documents and videos, that may be pertinent to the investigation.

During subsequent searches, investigators discovered the phone number of the alleged drug dealer and soon visited his home in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina. From his residence, a jar of cannabis, nine mobile phones, three computers, and two portable storage devices were confiscated. It appears that the hotel employee contacted him to supply Payne with drugs.

The toxicology report revealed that the musician had several substances in his system, including so-called pink cocaine, which is a mixture of several drugs, such as ecstasy, ketamine, caffeine, and the psychoactive substance 2-CB (also known as Tusi), used in the treatment of sexual disorders. Additionally, cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepines—sedatives—were detected in his system.
