Peace lilies, although undoubtedly beautiful and easy to grow, have their specific requirements. During the winter months, it is crucial to provide them with the right temperature. The optimal temperature in winter for these plants is between 61 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit. If the plant is situated directly next to a radiator, it can lead to drying out and damage to the leaves. Therefore, it's important to ensure the proper location for your green companion.

How to care for a peace lily during the heating season?

One rule for maintaining an appropriate microclimate for the peace lily is to avoid draughts. Peace lilies dislike sudden changes in temperature, so consider their location at home, particularly when airing rooms.

Winter is also a time when the air in our homes becomes very dry, which adversely affects all tropical plants. In their natural conditions, these plants are accustomed to high humidity, so it's worth paying attention to this aspect during their care.

One idea to increase air humidity is to place bowls of water near the plants, allowing them to slowly evaporate and humidify the air.

Light conditions are crucial for the health of the peace lily, especially as the days become shorter and less sunny. Although this plant does not tolerate direct sunlight, it requires access to light for proper growth. In winter, you can help by moving it closer to the window, but ensure it's away from cold draughts and the radiator.

During winter, proper watering is very important. At this time, the plant grows more slowly, so watering it once a week is sufficient to keep the soil slightly moist, but never wet.

Why do the leaves of the peace lily turn brown?

Browning leaves on a peace lily are a common issue that can result from several factors related to its care. The most common culprits are low humidity and too high a temperature in homes during the heating season. Peace lilies, which naturally thrive in humid climates, do not tolerate dry air well. It's also important to avoid direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burns. In addition, watering errors, both excess and deficiency, and improper fertilisation can contribute to this problem.

How to revive a peace lily? To support the plant, try this simple tip. Dissolve one teaspoon of sugar in one litre of water and water the peace lily with this solution. However, be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. With regular use of this tonic, the plant will regain its vitality and produce healthy, lush green leaves.
