Revolutionary ironing hacks. From aluminium foil to lemon freshness
If I had to name the biggest drawback of ironing, it would be the thankfulness of the material. It's about when the fabric starts to wrinkle again when turning the garment to the other side. It's somewhat of a Sisyphean task because no matter how often I run the iron over the crease, it will still be visible. Is there anything you can do about it? Of course, there is. After today's trick, ironing will no longer be such a hassle.
Ironing with this trick is pure pleasure
Have you been ironing a shirt for 10 minutes, and you can still see creases on it? There's a solution for that. Just go to the kitchen for a roll of aluminium foil. This kitchen gadget will change your ironing forever.
How to use the foil? Remove the fabric cover from your ironing board and cover the frame with shiny foil. Put the fabric cover back on and start ironing as usual. After the first pass of the iron, you'll feel the difference. The foil will retain heat and reflect it so the clothes will iron themselves from both sides simultaneously. This trick will reduce ironing to the absolute minimum, and you'll forget what wrinkles on clothes are.
How to cover clothes with scent while ironing?
To make the ironing process even easier, be sure to pour something more than distilled water into the iron. The secret ingredient serves two purposes. First, it will cover the clothes with a fresh, pleasant scent; second, it will soften the material, making it easier to manoeuvre the iron on the board.
The secret ingredient is lemon juice. For every 100ml of distilled water, add 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice, mix it all together, and pour it into the iron. The mixture will facilitate ironing and give the clothing a pleasant scent. You don’t have to worry that the lemon juice will damage the iron's channels. Quite the opposite! The acidic addition has descaling properties, making removing any residue inside the channels easy.
Even if you don't want to iron using citrus juice, it's worth adding some juice to the tank occasionally and blowing steam through the channels a few times. Lemon juice will clean the mechanism and take care of the iron. It's definitely cheaper than a special descaler from the store or, worse, a new iron.
