Many people habitually delay cleaning stove burners. Grime, burn marks, and residues can be quite off-putting. However, it’s worthwhile spending a few minutes cleaning "on the go," particularly after frying, as accumulated and repeatedly burnt grease is far from ideal.

A clean stove not only looks more pleasant but also improves the cooking experience. Clogged jets can cause ignition problems and contribute to increased gas consumption, leading to higher bills. That’s why regular cleaning is essential.

How to make your stove shine

Cleaning stove burners may be easier than you think. You’ll just need a few ingredients, which are likely already in your kitchen.

You need:

  • 1 packet of dry yeast,
  • 1 packet of baking powder,
  • lemon juice,
  • 120 ml of vinegar.

Begin by mixing all the ingredients in a bowl. The mixture will start fizzing—don't worry, that's what it's supposed to do! Remove the burners from the stove (make sure they are cold) and place them in the container, allowing the mixture to coat their surfaces. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. You'll be amazed by the results.

Yeast and baking powder work to soften and dissolve stains, lemon adds freshness and aids in grease removal, while vinegar disinfects and enhances the overall process. After the allotted time, rinse the burners under running water and dry them with a cloth. You’ll notice the difference!

Another tried-and-tested method involves using baking soda with warm water. Baking soda is excellent for dissolving grease and burn marks. Apply baking soda paste on the stove's dirty parts and leave it for at least half an hour. It can deliver surprisingly good results.

Remember consistency

Keeping your stove clean is crucial for its longevity and efficient operation. Regular cleaning ensures that dirt doesn’t have the chance to accumulate and burn again.

Develop daily habits. After each cooking session, wipe the burners with a damp cloth. It’s a quick way to prevent grease and food remnants from settling.

Set aside time each week for a more thorough clean. Use household items such as baking soda, vinegar, or lemon juice, which are effective for dissolving stains.

Don't overlook the nooks and crannies! Burners have many hard-to-reach spots where dirt can collect. An unused toothbrush can help reach areas that a cloth cannot.
