Putin's "demilitarization" claim as missiles devastate Ukraine's economy
Vladimir Putin has spoken about the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The dictator tried on Thursday to explain the attacks on energy facilities. He stated that it was an element of "demilitarization" of Ukraine.
Many of the reports provided by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
For several weeks, Russian missiles have been regularly falling on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Russians are attacking, among others, thermal power plants, power substations, and hydroelectric power stations. The goal is to paralyze Ukraine's economy and strike at the whole society.
In the meantime, Putin - contrary to facts - declared that Kyiv attacked first and that Russia was forced to react. - Unfortunately, recently, we have observed a series of attacks on our energy facilities, and we were forced to respond - he said during a meeting at the Kremlin with Alexander Lukashenko.
He added that the attacks on elements of Ukraine's energy infrastructure are conducted as part of the "demilitarization" of this country, as they are significant for the Ukrainian armaments industry.
Putin also lied, stating that Russia "did not conduct any shelling" in winter "for humanitarian reasons". In reality, the Russian army constantly attacks cities and villages in Ukraine, regardless of the season.
Massive attack by Russia. The Kremlin has chosen a specific target
As Volodymyr Zelensky reported on Thursday, in just the last 24 hours, up to 40 Russian missiles fell on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Several dozen strike drones also attacked these facilities.
Russia attacked targets in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Lviv regions. The greatest damage was reported in the Kyiv region, where the Trypillia Power Plant was destroyed.
