Using public restrooms often isn't the most comfortable scenario regarding privacy, but once the door is shut, we should sense security. The same applies to hotels, for which we pay considerable money. Even in these establishments, our privacy and comfort might be at risk.

Hidden function in hooks: they house a camera

Hooks have emerged as a favoured instrument of voyeurs. Internet users have been sounding the alarm for a while now, urging vigilance towards the inconspicuous hooks intended for hanging articles of clothing. In actuality, the situation could be quite different. Hooks might act as an advanced tool for spying. Such gadgets are openly available for purchase.

At an initial glance, the hook appears harmless. Its primary function is to hang outerwear or a woman's handbag. Yet, it might also capture our activities, for instance, when we use the toilet or change our attire. Thus, it is crucial to pay special attention to a specific detail.

The spying hook is characterized by a distinctive hole, often located at its upper part. This is revealed to be a small camera equipped with a motion sensor. Upon detecting a person's presence, it records everything occurring in its vicinity. Occasionally, a rectangular flap can be observed. This is where the memory card that stores the recordings is situated.

Leave immediately and alert the authorities

While selling such devices might be lawful, spying on and recording individuals, particularly when they are partially undressed, constitutes a criminal offence. Therefore, remaining cautious and watchful is essential in public venues (e.g., restrooms, changing rooms, or hotel rooms). If you encounter a suspect device, report it to the authorities immediately.
