Pop star Charli XCX joins a star-studded film about the art world
Pop star Charli XCX has joined the cast of the next film, featuring an impressive lineup. This is just one of the upcoming film projects by the singer responsible for "Brat summer".
The portal Deadline has reported that Charli XCX will join the star-studded cast of The Gallerist. The creator of the hit album Brat will appear on screen alongside Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman. The film will also feature Zach Galifianakis, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Brühl, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

"The Gallerist" is the latest project from director Cathy Yan, also known for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The film will tell the story of a desperate gallery owner who attempts to sell the body of a dead man during Art Basel in Miami, the most prestigious art fair in the world. Filming is set to start later this year.
Charli XCX's acting career is gathering pace. The artist is in the cast of as many as seven films and is currently in various production stages.

Charli XCX will also appear in the adaptation of the graphic novel "100 Nights of Hero" by Isabel Greenberg and in "I Want Your Sex", directed by Gregg Araki. Other productions announced to feature her include "Sacrifice" by Romain Gavras, a remake of the cult horror film "Faces of Death", and the comedy series "Overcompensating".
A sample of the singer and author's acting skills was recently seen in the popular entertainment programme Saturday Night Live. In the episode aired on November 16th, Charli XCX not only performed songs from her latest album, Brat, live but also earned praise for her excellent comedic timing in a sketch in which she parodied Adele.
