Oslo Airport crisis: Airspace closure disrupts Southern Norway flights
Norwegian authorities detected issues on Thursday with the functionality of two major systems at Oslo International Airport. To resolve these problems, they decided to close the airspace over southern Norway, leading to expected disruptions for travelers.
Ylva Celius Trusen, a spokesperson for Avinor, the state-owned company that operates nearly fifty airports across Norway, reported the difficulties on Norwegian television NRK.
"Two systems failed to work together, forcing us to close the airspace over southern Norway," Trusen said. However, the spokesperson did not detail which specific systems were affected.
Flights in the air at the time were rerouted to the nearest airports. According to the tracking service flightradar24.com, by 7:30 GMT, the skies over southern Norway were nearly devoid of aircraft.

The closure of airspace in southern Norway, particularly affecting Oslo Airport, the country's largest, promises significant disruptions.
The authorities have not yet provided a timeline for when normal operations will resume.
