A nutty oat crumble makes half of the perfect dessert. I hide autumn fruits underneath this cake, or more precisely, crumble. I usually opt for apples, sometimes substituting them with pears. It's a quick and straightforward recipe.

Crumble, essentially a cake without a base, is a delicious offering from the oven. The original version is made with a buttery, classic crumble. However, if you're counting calories and fancy a lighter version, replace wheat flour with oats. Add nuts to this, and you'll whip up a healthy, fit-style dessert in no time.

What to bake a crumble in?

A heat-resistant dish is ideal for this oven-baked dessert. It doesn't require lining with baking paper. The primary advantage of heat-resistant dishes is their ease and convenience of use. They allow you to prepare healthy and delicious meals and store leftovers without transferring them to other containers. They resist high temperatures, enabling baking, roasting, and even stewing for extended periods. Thanks to the transparent sides, you can easily monitor the cooking process and also serve dishes straight to the table in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Recipe for crumble with oat topping

The basic ingredients include oats, butter, and a sweetener. You can replace sugar with maple syrup or honey. You may partially blend the oats, but not into a complete powder. The butter should be chilled but not too hard, making it easy to combine everything.

Ingredients:

  • 7 oz oats,
  • 3.5 oz butter,
  • 3 oz brown sugar,
  • 2 oz shelled walnuts,
  • 28 oz apples or apples and pears.

Preparation:

  1. Mix the oats with butter and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Peel the fruit and cut it into large pieces.
  3. Grease the dish with butter (using the butter wrapper is ideal, so consider keeping it in the freezer).
  4. Preheat the oven to 365°F (185°C).
  5. Layer the fruit and cover with the oat crumble.
  6. Chop the nuts and sprinkle them on top.
  7. Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes.
  8. Serve the crumble hot.
