While the German national team performs flawlessly on the field, the squad of our western neighbours has been plagued by mosquitoes at their Euro 2024 base.
Experienced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer admitted that he had to install mosquito nets to deter the pests.
We need to make sure that the mosquito nets are always pulled shut when we are watching games on TV by the swimming pool - emphasised the Bayern Munich star.
Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of our western neighbours' national team, also commented on the matter.
We have an abnormal plague of mosquitos. We need to take care that some wind is blowing, in order that there aren't too many mosquitos around.
Maximilian Beier admitted that mosquitoes have already stung him two or three times. "But if the mosquitoes are the biggest problem that we have, that is OK," the player laughs.
Confident advancement of the German national team
On Sunday evening, the German national team salvaged a draw in the final moments against Switzerland. In added time, Niclas Fuellkrug scored the equaliser to make it 1-1, and thanks to this, Germany took first place in Group A. The tournament hosts can now prepare for the round of 16 matches in Euro 2024, where they will face the second team in Group C.
However, the German national team coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has considerable problems. It turns out that in the first knockout stage match, Germany may play without their starting centre-backs. Jonathan Tah is suspended for yellow cards, and Antonio Ruediger finished the game with an injury.
