Fight sports legend Mark Coleman, who saved his family and dog from a fire, was honored by the UFC. He will play an important role during event number 300.

American media reported the tragic incident involving Mark Coleman in March. According to their findings, the 59-year-old stayed at his parents' home in Fremont, Ohio. A fire broke out in the building at night. Coleman was awakened by the barking of a dog, who smelled the fire.

The 59-year-old immediately carried out the evacuation of his parents and carried them out of the burning building. Later, he returned to the house to save the dog inside. However, Coleman could not get outside and was eventually pulled out by firefighters who arrived at the scene. The dog he wanted to save died in the flames.

The website essentiallysports.com reported that Coleman was in a very serious condition. The retired fighter was poisoned by smoke and also suffered extensive burns. He was airlifted to a hospital in Toledo.

His condition is greatly improving week by week. He was first awoken from a coma, and then left the hospital.

As emphasised by the website mma.pl, Coleman will put the BMF belt on the hips of the winner of the title fight at UFC 300. Coleman's presence at the Saturday event in Las Vegas was confirmed by UFC president, Dana White, at a special press conference on Thursday announcing the event.
