Putin once again honoured in Chechnya
A district named after Vladimir Putin is to be established in the capital of Chechnya, Grozny. The local authorities plan to establish this district by reconfiguring part of the already existing Sheikh Mansur district, named after a religious leader and the principal figure in the resistance movement against Tsarist Russia.

The Grozny City Hall has announced that at the start of the month, it held a vote among the local population on whether to create the 'Putin district' in the Chechen capital. Thirty-four thousand seven hundred five citizens voted in favour, while only about 200 suggested 'other options'.
The city council deemed these results satisfactory, as highlighted by TASS. A resolution is now in preparation for creating the district bearing Putin's name by redefining and renaming a section of the Sheikh Mansur district – named after a Chechen religious leader and a key figure in the resistance of Caucasian highlanders against Russia in the late 18th century.
In tribute to the Russian leader
In 2008, as recalled by the Meduza news service, Grozny's main thoroughfare, Victory Avenue, was renamed Vladimir Putin Avenue. The Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated that the decision acknowledged Putin’s exceptional achievements in the battle against terrorism and in the reconstruction of Chechnya’s economy and social infrastructure.
