Alyaksandr Lukashenka, during a Friday meeting with students at a university in Minsk, stated that he maintains contacts with Ukraine "through his own channels" all the time. He argued that he is trying to persuade its leaders to negotiate with Russia, but the Americans "are interfering" by "pushing them to war."

Much of the information provided by Russian and Belarusian media or their government representatives is part of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation and Belarus.

As described by the Belarusian state news agency BelTA, Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with students in Minsk and gave a speech on the war in Ukraine.

Lukashenka emphasised the need to end this conflict and negotiate peace terms. However, according to the Belarusian president, the United States is "obstructing" this, as the ongoing war is "profitable" for them.

Lukashenka on talks with Zelensky

- We maintain contacts through certain channels with Ukraine. You see what our relations with the Russians are like. We are trying to use these contacts to make everything work. Zelensky still does not hear this and does not want to listen. Why? Because the Americans are pushing them (Ukrainians) into this war - argued Lukashenka.

He also referred to World War II and the Great Patriotic War, after which "Belarus was completely destroyed". - That's why we must negotiate. This is my firm stance - quoted the BelTA agency.

The war in Ukraine is "profitable" for the United States

- Russia is not the most important. What is important is to weaken Europe. Do not think that Americans and Europeans are one big family. Americans do not need a strong Europe. They want Europe to fight in Ukraine, so they give money. The dollar leads to inflation all over the world. They give money to Zelensky, saying "go and fight". The United States is expanding its military-industrial complex in Europe, and the money stays in the USA - said the leader of the Belarusian regime.

He says, "American society reacts badly when zinc coffins return to the country".

- So it's a proxy war. Let Ukrainians die there, let them kill each other with the Russians - he said to the students.

Lukashenka threatens with war

This is not the first time that the Belarusian leader blames NATO countries for prolonging the conflict in Ukraine. In one of the interviews, he threatened the prospect of World War III if NATO troops enter Ukraine.

- We see with President Putin that NATO troops could openly be engaged. They could enter directly. And even better, which is what those terrible Poles, the leaders of Poland, want – to occupy Belarus and extend this line nearly to Leningrad (St. Petersburg - ed.) as it once was. That is their dream - he stated.
