Jerusalem in terror: Pedestrians targeted in failed gun and car rampage

On Monday in Jerusalem, there was a terrorist attack. The criminals drove a car into a group of pedestrians, launching them into the air. The attackers then pulled out guns, but, fortunately, they did not manage to use them.

On Techelet Mordechai Street in Jerusalem, a white car hit a group of pedestrians, then violently turned and hit several parked vehicles nearby. According to police information, two armed men got out of the car. However, they reportedly failed to fire any shots, likely because their weapon probably jammed.

Two suspected attackers, Palestinian teenagers, were captured after a short manhunt. A discarded makeshift submachine gun is evidence that the incident could have had a much more tragic outcome.

The emergency services reported that they provided aid to two individuals who were hit by the same car, first on Techelet Mordechai Street and nearby Yirmiyahu Street in the Romema neighbourhood. The police reported that a third person was also slightly injured.

War in Israel

Since the war with Hamas began on 7 October, Palestinians have been carrying out attacks on Israeli cities and towns. On Monday, Palestinian civil defence in Gaza reported that it had found 283 bodies at the Khan Younis hospital.

Furthermore, the head of Israeli military intelligence has resigned over the failure to prevent the 7 October attack. He is the first high-ranking official to take such a step.
