Israeli airstrikes in Gaza kill 20 amid escalating conflict

On Tuesday early morning, as a result of Israeli Air Force attacks on the city of Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip and on a refugee camp in the central part of the enclave, 20 Palestinians were killed, reported by Palestinian medical sources.

Due to Israeli airstrikes on the city of Rafah located near the border with Egypt, a place of refuge for over a million Palestinians, 14 individuals lost their lives, and dozens were injured.

Furthermore, Palestinian medical services reported that six more people perished from rocket fire at the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central part of the Gaza Strip.

In retaliation to the attack by fighters from the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Israel on October 6, 2023, the Israeli forces began pacification efforts in the Gaza Strip. This initial attack resulted in 1,200 people dead, with more than 250 terrorists taking hostages.

According to Palestinian sources, the Israeli military's attacks have led to over 31,000 Palestinian deaths, the vast majority being civilians.

Negotiations aimed at a ceasefire and the release of hostages were scheduled to resume on Monday in Qatar, attended by the Israeli delegation. The USA, Qatar, and Egypt are acting as mediators in the discussions between Hamas and Israel.
